Ellie Kyungran Heo is an artist-filmmaker. She makes experimental films by collaging performances with documentary footage of her subject, tracking how her relationship with the subject changes over time, with respect to conflict, intimacy and sensitivity. In doing so, she tries to create a space in which questions relating to the ethical relationship between the subject, the audience and the artist herself, can be examined.

In Asian food culture, “Did you eat rice?” means “Have you had food?” (usually referring to a specific meal: breakfast, lunch or dinner). Additionally, it could also be used when greeting others that one may be concerned about; a substitute for “How have you been?”, “Are you OK?”, or “Is everything all right?”.
