Mountain of Trash
Primrin Puarat is an independent film director and producer. She graduated her Bachelor’s Degree in Film. Her student short documentary "Pae-In" (2016) won the 2nd documentary prize from the 2016 Thai Short Film & Video Film Festival. Primrin was one of the five filmmakers selected by Purin Pictures to attend Platform Busan at the Busan International Film Festival in 2017. She has worked closely with Anocha Suwichakornpong as a casting director and production manager on several of her films.
While the Eastern Seaboard Development Plan established Chonburi as a central base for driving the Thai economy, it also brought an environmental catastrophe in its wake. At what seemingly appears as a large mountain, there lies 7 layers of waste that weighs over 3 million tonnes. The dumpsite has grown as tall as a mountain and is continually expanding and elevating, with a notorious stench that stretches across several kilometers.
