While the Eastern Seaboard Development Plan established Chonburi as a central base for driving the Thai economy, it also brought an environmental catastrophe in its wake. At what seemingly appears as a large mountain, there lies 7 layers of waste that weighs over 3 million tonnes. The dumpsite has grown as tall as a mountain and is continually expanding and elevating, with a notorious stench that stretches across several kilometers.
